CALGARY, AB–(Marketwired – September 19, 2016) – Alberta-based health technology startup Vivametrica announced today its acceptance as the first startup into the T-Squared Accelerator, a new collaboration between TEC Edmonton and TELUS. Founded by clinicians and researchers, Vivametrica provides personalized health analytics information from wearable devices. It is at the leading edge of technology innovation driven by award-winning science, and is poised to become a front runner in health data analytics.
As one of Canada’s top business incubators, TEC Edmonton accelerates the growth of early-stage technology companies, serving to diversify Alberta’s economy. As part of the T-Squared Accelerator, Vivametrica will receive seed funding, business mentorship, access to industry networks, channel partners, and investors.
“We are excited that Vivametrica has been chosen as a startup partner in the T-Squared Accelerator,” said Dr. Rick Hu, Founder and CEO of Vivametrica. “As experienced organizations, I am confident that TEC Edmonton and TELUS will provide exceptional support in growing Vivametrica into a successful leader in enterprise and insurance health analytics.”
“Of the fifty or so start-ups that initially applied for T-Squared, Vivametrica stood out as one of the strongest teams and offerings in the wearable health tech platform space. Our collective goal in the coming months is to support management with resources, insight, advice and access to our investor network to help the company rapidly grow its customer base and become a global leader in enterprise and insurance health analytics,” stated Shaheel Hooda, Executive in Residence at TEC Edmonton and Program Director of T-Squared.
Since its incorporation in 2013, Vivmetrica has built a strong team, commercialized its technology, and identified promising market opportunities. With the support of the T-Squared Accelerator, Vivametrica will continue to grow, further putting the Alberta health technology industry on the world stage.
Currently, Vivametrica works with TELUS Health Solutions on wearable-based enterprise health services. In addition, Vivametrica will launch a pilot program in China, through a leading global re-insurance company and one of its Chinese direct insurance clients.
On September 22-23, Vivametrica will present at the Banff Venture Forum, Canada’s premier company financing event which showcases promising high tech companies from across North America. The Banff Venture Form follows the Health Accelerator Summit where representatives from the investment, biotech, university and business communities come together for an in-depth look at the latest healthcare industry trends. The Health Accelerator Summit is hosted by TEC Edmonton.
